- When: Thursday, September 18, 2025, 6:00–8:30 PM
- Where: Meet at Tommy’s Park (Exchange St, Portland, ME) - look for the DC207 crew with gear.
- Theme: Hands-on WiFi recon walk, then a casual pub crawl in the Old Port.
What’s happening
We’ll start with a quick primer on legal/ethical WiFi reconnaissance (passive survey only), then map SSIDs as we stroll toward the first pub. Expect short demo stops and fast drills (Wigle, GPS tagging, antenna patterns). After that: "War Drinking" - compare captures, techniques, and notes over a couple of pints.
Agenda
- 6:00–6:25 - Meetup + primer in Tommy’s Park (RF basics, ethics, safety).
- 6:25–7:10 - Street-level recon walk (passive only) toward our first stop.
- 7:10–8:30 - Pub crawl & show-and-tell (route decided on-site; Old Port area).
Bring (optional but highly recommended)
- A Wigle-compatible device (Android with Wigle Wardrive app, iOS with WiGLE WiFi, or a Wigle-enabled scanner).
- SDR stick if you want to peek beyond 2.4/5 GHz (we’ll keep it quick).
Ground rules
- Passive only. No deauth, no association, no captive-portal games, no creds collection.
- Don’t join networks you don’t have permission to use.
- Be respectful of businesses, sidewalks, and patrons; ask before photographing gear indoors.
